xx Jacqueline "Elaine" Nix - GA
« Thread started on: Sep 10th, 2004, 6:39pm »

September 20, 1999 was the last time David and Becky Nix saw their beloved daughter Jacqueline Elaine Nix. Elaine was last seen using a pay phone at Zack's Food Rack on Candler Highway (Hwy 60). Phone records prove that she was on the phone with her boyfriend (Billy Millwood) from 11:10 PM to 12:10 AM. Her vehicle was located parked next to the pay phone with the keys in the ignition and a pack of cigarettes in the back seat. At about 2:00 AM a cop rode by and saw the car parked and stopped to check it out. The cop stated that the hood was still warm at that time. On September 29, 1999 Elaine was found dead in a wooded area in an industrial park located at 3131 Verona Ave. in Buford, GA. Her lifeless body was found completely nude with no visable signs of any rape or torture. Elaine was last seen wearing white T-shirt, khaki pants, and blue and white tennis shoes, these articles were never found. The Gwinnett County Police Department is investigating her death as a homicide. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Gwinnett County Police Department of Criminnal Investigation Division at 770-513-5300 or Detective ET Edkin at 770-513-5354

Murder remains unsolved five years later
By Scott Kimbler

GAINESVILLE - With the fifth anniversary of her death just around the corner, friends and family of Elaine Nix of Gainesville are issuing new calls for help in locating her killer or killers.

Nix had been missing for nine days when her body was found naked in a wooded area in north Gwinnett County on September 29, 1999. A reward for information is at $5,000 and her mother Becky says contributions can be made at Regions Bank.

xx Unsolved Mysteries 9-29-04

Jacqueline Elaine Nix threw on a pair of her mother's sneakers and some old khaki pants, and slipped off to call her boyfriend. She left at 11 p.m. and never returned.

Her car was found parked near a pay phone outside Zack's Food Rack, a convenience store two miles from her home. The driver's side window was open, her pack of Marlboro Lights was in the front seat, and the key was still in the ignition.

Friends and family members searched for her for 10 days. Then Gwinnett police found her nude body dumped in the woods near a steep embankment not far from the loading docks of a Buford business.

Detectives interviewed dozens of people trying to solve the murder of the 18-year-old waitress from Gainesville, but made little progress.

Five years later, police are no closer to making an arrest. Nix's name is on a growing list of cold cases about 80 killings dating back to the mid-1960s that haven't been solved. And since new crimes are committed almost daily in Gwinnett, family members of some of the victims of unsolved homicides wonder if their loved ones will be forever forgotten.

"The police have told me that it has been so long and the case has gotten so cold that someone is going to have to turn themselves in," said Becky Nix, Elaine's mother
Some in the Gwinnett Police Department dream of creating a cold case squad, a group of detectives that would focus only on unsolved homicides.

The concept has become more in vogue this year with the premiere of the CBS cop drama, "Cold Case," featuring a male and female detective team who solve ancient whodunits.

Occasionally, Jean Wallace watches the hit series at her Pensacola home and dreams that television detective Lily Rush will arrest the man who killed her daughter, Lisa Geise

xx Service For Nix Planned for Tonight

9-29-04
GAINESVILLE - A service is scheduled for Tuesday at 7:00pm in Memorial Park Cemetery for Hall County murder victim Elaine Nix who was killed in 1999.

Nix had been missing for nine days when her body was found naked in a wooded area in north Gwinnett County on September 29, 1999.

An autopsy did not determine how she died and investigators says the leads are cold that could lead to a suspect.

Her mother Becky Nix said Elaine was an average teenager who had aspirations of being a nurse.

Nix was last seen alive on September 20th at Zack's Food Rac
"We still think about her everyday,"

k on Candler Highway. Her body was found nine days later in Rest Haven.

Becky Nix said the killer not being captured is still hard to accept.

"We still think about her everyday," she added. "Knowing that this person is still out there."

In Hall County the case was treated as a missing persons case because it is presumed that Nix died in Gwinnett County.

Sheriff's Captain Terry Conner says although there is not much activity in the case, investigators still follow leads and hope to find the person or person responsible.

"It is a very sad situation," Conner said. "I am sure the family would like some closure."

Conners encourages anybody who may have seen anything or may know about the case to contact the Hall County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division at 770-533-7710.

Gwinnett County Police is the primary investigating body.

Corporal Dan Huggins said the investigations remains active but there has not been any leads for quite a while.

"Every once in a while we do receive some new leads in the case," Huggins said. "Which we have followed up on but have not lead us any closer to her killer."

The Gwinnett County Police Criminal Investigations Division can be reached at 770-513-5300.

I neglected to post these two photos from the vigil. This one picture of Elaine's mother smiling is really sweet and the viewer's need to see it. There is also another photo of the angel monument that I think everybody could appreciate as well. Elaine's website should be updated within 48 hours as well.

Another photo of the angel monument located in the Memorial Park Cemetary. Symbolizes peace and it was felt throughout the crowd on that hilltop last night

I want to thank everyone for all their support. We do not need to forget about the one's who are gone. Especially when they are murdered and we don't know how or why.

xx Elaine Nix's Family to be on Montel Williams
« Reply #12 on: Nov 29th, 2004, 1:23pm »

I just received an email from Jennifer (the lady who maintains Elaine's site and friend) that she and Elaine's mom will be flying to the Montel Williams show to tape a segment with Slyvia Brown on Dec. 7 or Dec. 8. I will be looking forward to seeing this air Jennifer!!! Maybe she can shed some light on this five year mystery.

Also, Elaine's birthday is in a few weeks. We will be recognizing her on that date as well.

Elaine's family completed the Montel show interview with Slyvia Brown earlier this week. At this time, there is no air date, but as soon as it's available I will post so you all can watch about her case. Her murder needs to be solved and maybe this will help the family?

Today is Elaine Nix's birthday. I wanted to say that I am thinking of her and hoping that justice can be found for whoever is responsible for her disappearance and death. Elaine was taken much too soon. Also, I am hoping that this upcoming broadcast on Montel helps the family break the case. We will be watching. Jennifer, David & Becky, you have my #. Call me if you need me.
