(Jamestown, NY, November 28, 2004) - - Family and friends are literally following dreams in hopes of finding a missing southern tier mother of four. On Saturday dozens went out again searching for Yolanda Bindics.

The 26 year old disappeared on August 10th after leaving work.

Yesterday's search focused on Hallock Street.

They combed this area because several people close to Yolanda have had dreams about her whereabouts.

Family and friends say they'll continue to search until the young mother is found.

The family of a missing Jamestown mother are asking for more volunteers to help search for Yolanda Bindics this weekend. They are hopeful that a tip would have led them to her.

Family and friends will gather on Saturday, December 3rd in Jamestown to continue searching for Yolanda. She vanished three and a half months ago. They will meet at noon at the corner of Newland and Huxley streets.

Yolanda's family says psychic friends repeatedly dreamed about a wooded area. They also saw a white cross that perhaps, they say, is like the one on the front of a church on Hallock Street.

BENEFIT For The CHILDREN of Yolanda Bindics

On August 10, 2004, 26 year old, Yolanda Bindics, left her job at the Family Dollar Store on Fluvanna Ave. in Jamestown NY. She phoned home to say she was
picking up some groceries and would be home soon. She has not been heard from since.

Yolanda was born and raised in Buffalo, where most of her family still resides. Her main focus in life is her four beautiful daughters. Her oldest, Katelyn, is only 8
years old. Courtney is 5, Allison is 3, and her baby, Emily, is 18 months.

With the diligence of the Jamestown Police Department, The FBI and the New York State Police every effort has been made to find Yolanda.

Without a word for more than 3 months naturally we anticipate the worst. Faced with the unfortunate possibility that these four young girls could grow up without a
mother, we chose to redirect our energy towards their future.

Our goal is to insure each of Yolanda’s daughters, the right to a college education and a brighter future.

A benefit will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2005 from 6:00 pm until 11:00 pm at the AMVETS Medallion Post 13 at 25 Review Pl. in Buffalo. A $25
admission fee will include food, beer, pop, Chinese and silent auctions, and live bands. (Jackdaw, and The Moses Stone).

Any and all donations are greatly appreciated. We need items and services, of any kind, to auction. Business donations will be represented, by a business card, on a
sponsorship display board.

All monetary donations can be sent to any M&T branch c/o Friends of Yolanda Bindics.

all other donations can be sent to:

Yolanda Bindics Benefit
c/o AMVETS Post 13

xx Jamestown Police Officer Answers To Harassment Cha
« Reply #37 on: Jan 4th, 2005, 05:17am »

A suspended Jamestown police officer was in court today to answer to charges he harassed and stalked three female city employees.

Michael Watson was placed on leave from his job because of a relationship he had with a young Jamestown mother who went missing August 10th. Yolanda Bindics has not been seen since leaving her job that evening five months ago. Watson has not been charged in connection with her disappearance.

In a 12-count indictment, Watson is accused of following the women in his police car and on foot, parking outside their homes for extended periods, shining a flashlight into one of ther women's bedroom windows, calling and e-mailing repeatedly, saying things like "I love you," and "I need you."

"He's obviously entered pleas of not guilty," said defense attorney Paul Webb. "He didn't harass or stalk any of the women involved." Webb said two of the women named in the indictment were employees of hte Jamestown police department. According to Webb, "any relationship he had was consensual." As for the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Yolanda Bindics, Webb said Watson has "fully cooperated with the FBI. He didn't have anything to do with the Yolanda Bindics case."

Watson will be back in court for a pre-trial conference later this month.

Meanwhile, Jamestown police continue to investigate the disappearance of Yolanda Bindics. "We still have evidence that is out with labs, still waiting for some of those results to come back to us," said Captain Lee Davies. "In fact, we were just in touch with the local FBI office last week and checking on the status of that evidence and it has not yet returned," he said.

Captain Davies says while leads continue to come in, they are fewer and further between. He calls the case "troubling" but is hopeful it will eventually be solved.

xx Family Of Yolanda Bindics Holds Fund Raiser
« Reply #38 on: Jan 16th, 2005, 11:08pm »

In a difficult situation, family and friends of Yolanda Bindics did their best to have a good time.

The 26-year-old mother of four from Jamestown has been missing since August.

Saturday night, a fund raiser was held at AMVETS Medallion Post 13 in Buffalo to collect money for Bindics' four daughters.

"The community has expressed they would like to help in some way, and they're doing so tonight," said Christine Bindics, one of Yolanda's sisters.

The event cost $25, and included a live band, a chinese raffle, and dinner.

Bindics was last seen leaving the Family Dollar store where she worked in Jamestown. Her car was found, then her purse and keys a few months later in a storm drain. Jamestown Police Officer Michael Watson has been named a person of interest, but has not been charged in connection with the case. He has proclaimed his innocence.

Investigators said they have no major leads, however, Captain Lee Davies with the Jamestown police said, "We still do receive tips and leads and those are investigated."

It is against this backdrop that family and friends held the fund raiser.

"You know, I try to keep up hope, because I can't understand why. She wasn't into anything that anyone would have against her," said Patricia Bindics, Yolanda's mother.

"It's just tough every day," said Christine Bindics. "I don't want to say I'm hopeful, but at the same time I don't want to say I have no hope."

xx Civil Service Case Against Jamestown Cop Revealed
« Reply #40 on: Jan 25th, 2005, 05:33am »

The attorney for a suspended Jamestown police officer was in court today to try and put off a civil service hearing until the criminal case against him is complete.

Michael Watson is accused in a criminal indictment of stalking and harassing some female city employees. The indictment states that he followed three different women in his police car, parked outside their homes, called them repeatedly, told them things like "I want you," and "I can't stay away from you."

In court papers released today relative to the civil service charges, Watson is accused of using his position as a police officer to gain access to female employees phone numbers, work schedules and other records. The papers claim he sent alarming e-mails to several women via computer, that he set up unauthorized traffic stops in order to pull female city employees over, then make moves on them.

The civil service case against Watson also accuses him of exposing himself on Jamestown City property including City Hall. In addition, it states he had sex with female city workers in the city jail bathroom, in the police gym, in a parking enforcement office and at other locations while on duty.

Watson is the officer who had a personal relationship with missing Jamestown mother Yolanda Bindics. While he has not been charged in her disappearance, the civil service allegations state that Watson "neglected duty to report valuable information relative to Yolanda Bindics disappearance, with whom had a personal relationship of a sexual nature, and with whom had recent contact at the time of her disappearance, thereby repressing, concealing and distorting the facts of the incident and impeding the investigation..."

Watson's attorney, Paul Webb, said "any conduct that took place at the police station was consensual." He said if its deemed improper, then that's for the police chief to deal with.

"Once his position is known, you'll see Officer Watson is not guilty of stalking, harassing, or official misconduct," said Webb.

A civil service hearing had been slated to start later this week.

Six Months Since Yolanda Bindics Disappeared

"Dear God, I pray that Yolanda is safe from harm," that prayer from Anne Chmielewski, Yolanda's older sister as she stands in front of a makeshift shrine to Yolanda in her living room. Anne's 10-year-old son Anthony, small yet large in character, stands beside her. Candles burn, pictures of Yolanda increase the burning yearning they feel for her return.

Yolanda was last seen August 10th, as she left work at the Jamestown Family Dollar store. The next day her car was found down the street at Arby's. Days turned into weeks, searches in the late days of summer and late days of fall, benefits too, still no official suspects no solid leads.

"I just feel like we're losing the support of the police. Even a phone call, even if nothing is happening, just to let us know they're still behind us. I don't want the case to go cold," Anne says as tears begin to fall.

She plans to help herself by putting a picture of Yolanda on a billboard, maybe even questioning some people herself, but really, all she knows to do right now, is pray.

"There's still hope," she says, "it's not over yet."

Jamestown Police say the case is still officially open.

Jamestown officer accused of misconduct
Figure in Bindics case faces department probe

By MATT GRYTA
News Staff Reporter
2/22/2005

Suspended Jamestown Police Officer Michael Watson, facing a possible jail term on stalking and harassment allegations involving three women, could be drummed off the police force as a result of 23 department misconduct charges involving seven women, including a still-missing Jamestown woman.
In a court-blocked departmental disciplinary proceeding that includes accusations that he deliberately hid contacts last August with the missing Yolanda Bindics, Watson, 34, is accused of having sex with two female Police Department employees.

He has been on administrative leave since being arrested Oct. 4 and charged with harassment in allegations dealing with women other than Bindics, 26, a Jamestown mother of four missing since last Aug. 10. In the departmental case launched against Watson in October, he is accused of misconduct for neglecting his "duty to report valuable information regarding a police case" dealing with Bindics.

Watson is accused of withholding allegedly "valuable information relative to the investigation of the disappearance of Yolanda Bindics, with whom you had a personal relationship of a sexual nature and with whom you had recent contact" between last Aug. 10 and last Aug. 14.

Watson has been publicly described by police as "a person of interest" in the disappearance of Bindics.

Among the department disciplinary charges, Watson is accused of failing to properly enter the status of prisoners at the police jail while assigned as a jailer there late last Aug. 10 and allegedly absenting himself from his jailer duties improperly. In a 32-page disciplinary document - a copy of which was obtained by The Buffalo News - Watson is accused of criminal and departmental violations, including allegedly having sex with two female police officers in the police gym, the city jail and the City Hall Parking Enforcement office.

The disciplinary case, which alleges misconduct beginning in the late 1990s and includes alleged harassment of two other female police employees and two Jamestown "civilians," has been halted pending completion of Watson's criminal case by order of State Supreme Court Justice Paula L. Feroleto.

On Jan. 3, Watson pleaded not guilty to the stalking and harassment indictment lodged against him by a county grand jury Dec. 22 as part of a continuing investigation being conducted by Special Prosecutor Edward C. Cosgrove.

Neither Cosgrove, the former Erie County district attorney, Watson nor Watson's lawyer, Paul V. Webb Jr., was available to comment Monday.

In addition to being accused of being absent without leave from assigned duties in recent years, Watson is accused in the departmental charges of being sexually intimate on government property between 2002 and last August with a female jail matron who also worked as a Jamestown parking enforcement officer.

Between April 2003 and the end of May 2003, Watson, according to the departmental charges, had sexual relations with a second Police Department employee while he was "on duty and in uniform" at the Roger Tory Peterson Institute and at a Fluvanna Avenue parking lot.

Watson is accused of harassing that woman after she allegedly ended their affair by sending her "alarming" e-mails after repeatedly being told to discontinue such contacts.

He is also accused of confronting that woman in a West Third Street restaurant parking lot after their tryst ended two years ago.

Watson is accused of exposing himself to a third Jamestown policewoman outside a Fluvanna Avenue bagel shop over seven years ago.

In the court-stalled departmental case, Watson is also accused of sexually harassing a second jail matron between December 2003 and last August by exposing himself to her twice in a "secluded area" of Jamestown City Hall and making "improper" traffic stops of her car while he was on duty.

Watson is also accused of sexually harassing two Jamestown "civilian" women while on-duty between 1997 and last June involving alleged on-duty stalking incidents outside their home and unauthorized traffic stops of one of them.

Officer accused of withholding info about missing mother

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. -- A suspended police officer criminally charged with stalking and harassing women is accused in departmental proceedings of withholding valuable information about a mother of four who has been missing since August.

Among 23 department misconduct charges are allegations that Michael Watson deliberately hid contacts with Yolanda Bindics, 26, the month she disappeared, according to a 32-page disciplinary document obtained by The Buffalo News. Other charges include allegations he engaged in sexual conduct with two female Jamestown Police Department employees and exposed himself to a jail matron in City Hall. The departmental charges involve a total of seven women.
Watson has been on administrative leave since Oct. 4, 2004 when he was charged with harassment in allegations dealing with women other than Bindics.

The departmental case, begun the same month, accuses Watson of misconduct for neglecting his "duty to report valuable information regarding a police case" dealing with Bindics. The document indicates Watson had a sexual relationship with Bindics.

Watson has been described by police as a "person of interest" in Bindics' disappearance.

The departmental disciplinary case, which alleges misconduct beginning in the late 1990s, has been halted pending completion of the criminal case. Watson has pleaded not guilty.
