I live not to far from where Audrey is missing. There are still posters up in many stores and hope they remain up until she is found. The picture posted of her daughter just broke my heart. I hope her family gets some closure on this very soon.

Missing U.S. woman here?

CYBER-NOTE TRACED TO BURLINGTON

By JONATHAN JENKINS, TORONTO SUN

AUDREY HERRON had been missing from her upstate New York home for more than two years when an Internet posting suddenly held out hope the mother of three was alive and well. However, the message claiming Herron was alive and well in Miami originated from an Internet service provider in Burlington.

Investigators with New York State Police are working with Halton Region police to see if the missing woman is in fact in the GTA.

Herron, 32, vanished Aug. 29, 2002, after leaving her job as a nurse in Catskill, N.Y.

She has not been seen since nor has any trace of her 1994 black Jeep Cherokee, licence X233UV, ever been found.

Family and friends set up a website to gather information on her disappearance and it got the message in October. Cops traced it to Burlington but the service provider won't name the client, citing confidentiality rules.

Tipsters can call 905-634-1831, ext. 2358, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS

xx E-mailer claims to be missing woman; police suspec
« Reply #17 on: Mar 5th, 2005, 11:48am »

CATSKILL - State police in Catskill and Canadian police are working to identify an Internet subscriber who sent an e-mail claiming to be Audrey May Herron, a Freehold woman who disappeared in August 2002.

The e-mail was sent in October to a Web address established by friends of Herron. In it, the writer claimed to be Herron and said she was fine, living in Miami and planning to return home soon. But police said they traced the e-mail to Burlington, Ontario, and determined it was written by a person who subscribes to Cogeco Cable Internet service.

State police Senior Investigator David Darling said on Friday that authorities still are trying to determine who sent the e-mail and whether it was legitimate. He said the e-mail probably was a hoax but he couldn't be certain.

If the e-mail was a hoax, it would be up to Canadian police to decide whether the writer should be charged, Darling said.

In an effort to determine whether the missing mother of three was in the Burlington, Ontario, area when the e-mail was sent, police there have asked people there to be on the lookout for her, Darling said. He said state police in Catskill currently have no local leads but have followed several from out of state.

The e-mail is the first lead suggesting Herron may be outside the United States, he said.

"This one is a little harder because its out of the country," Darling said.

He said state police are working with the Ontario Provincial Police and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and that local troopers and their counterparts north of the border are in contact every other day.

Herron was last seen on Aug. 29, 2002, at the Greene County Long Term Health Care Center in Jefferson Heights, where she worked as a licensed practical nurse. She was 31 at the time and describes as white, 5 feet tall and 105 pounds with light brown hair and hazel eyes. She was wearing green medical scrubs and a blue turtleneck.

The vehicle she drove at the time was a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee with New York license plate X23-3UV.

Anyone with information about Herron or her vehicle is asked to call state police at (518) 622-8600.

Message from missing woman likely a hoax
Web posting claims to be from Audrey May Herron
FREEHOLD, March 4
By BILL LAMBDIN

It's been two and a half years since Audrey May Herron vanished, leaving behind three young children and a husband. An Internet posting with her name on it would have been a major breakthrough. But all indications are the message was a cruel hoax.

The message popped up in October on a Web site dedicated to the search for Herron. Since then authorities have been trying to trace it. They know it came from a Canadian Internet service provider, but have been unable to learn the name of the computer user.

“Well, they might eventually find out who sent the message, but as far as anything to do with Audrey, I don't believe it's going to prove anything to me,” said Herron’s father, Ray Turk.

Not only has Turk lost his daughter, he says he no longer is allowed to see her three small children. Turk and some of Herron’s friends have many questions about her husband Jeff Herron's reaction to her disappearance. That seems to have driven a wedge among those who knew the 31-year-old licensed practical nurse.

Herron worked a shift at the Columbia Greene Long Term Health Care Facility in Catskill in August 2002, but then apparently never made it home. Police don't think she ran away.

“Her kids were her life. Her family was her life,” the missing woman's friend Marie Parker said.

That's why this message, which purports to have been written by Mrs. Herron in Miami, seems so strange. It told people to stop looking and said she'd come home soon unless the searching continued.

The Canadian ISP won't reveal to New York investigators the identity of the person who registered the sending computer – leaving Mrs. Herron’s searchers frustrated.

“If it was one of their daughters up there missing and it happened down here, see how they'd feel,” Turk said.

Since her disappearance in 2002 police have investigated this as if it were a murder, but have not been able to make a case against anyone.

There is some possibility that Canada may yet cooperate and produce the name of the Canadian Internet subscriber. However, it has already been five months since the message was sent.

Marie, I have to tell you that I am so glad you decided to come back on again. This area of work here is so frustrating and hard sometimes. I've had some problems in the last few days with this thing with Patrice. The reality is very hard for me to accept.

I have been watching this thing with Audrey. I dont know why people make up stupid stuff, but they do. Our only eyewitness with Patrice, we have found out, lied about everything!

I will not ever forget Audrey or you. If you dont feel like doing this anymore, I will keep up her threads with no problem.

I'm just so glad you are back. Glad you got my letter. I had to let you know that both you and Audrey have never been forgotten. Wish you'd come to Cue with us. tongue

I would like to ask for the help of everyone on this board...

The company, Cogeco Cable is still unwilling to cooperate with authorities.... After a post on Audrey's guestbook about getting a petition together I thought that we should start writing to this company.

Dear Cogeco Cable,
I am writing in hopes that you may help resolve a lead that was tracked back to your company regarding the case of U.S. missing woman, Audrey May Herron.
In October 2004 a subsriber to your company posted as Audrey on her website. Since doing so both LE here in NY & authorities there in Canada have tried to retrieve that subscriber's name to put an end to the thought of it actually being Audrey. You have refused this plea due to the privacy issues of your company.
There is a family here & children, Audrey's children, who hold out hope that this will lead us to Audrey. What your company is doing for the sake of someone's privacy is cruel. You have stated in papers therein that you have spoken to the subscriber but are still unwilling to reveal them to authorities. If in fact this person is Audrey or even if it not, I am begging you to please cooperate & help us put an end to what seems to be another journey of heartache & anguish for this family to go through. And for what? The privacy of a person who thought it to be "funny" to claim they were this missing mother of three?
I am appealing to you as a human, not a company. I am begging you to help us put an end to this unknowing nightmare. This latest lead in her case has brought the family more undue stress & grief not needed.
Think to yourselves how it would feel if it was your daughter, mother, wife or friend. Would you not plead for the same. This family has suffered through almost 3 years of hell. Do you really think the privacy issue is that important?
Regardless, either way, I beg of you to release the information needed to bring closure to this. Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
Searching for Audrey...
Marie E. Parker

Please, everyone follow this link & write a letter to this company. Maybe we can get them to change their minds & cooperate.
http://www.cogeco.ca/en/index_o.html

We ask everyone to join us in doing this & would appreciate it if you would post your letters here or on Audrey's guestbook to show your support of our efforts to reach out to this company.
We need to end this. If it was not Audrey or if it was...

Thank you for the help,

Searching for Audrey...Marie

xx March Newsletter for Audrey May Herron

March 9, 2005The Audrey May Turk Herron Reward/Donation Fund Newsletter

RECENT NEWS COVERAGE OF AUDREY REACHES CANADA
HOPE OR HOAXE?

Audrey May Herron has been missing from her upstate New York home for more than two years when an internet posting to a website created to help find her suddenly offers hope the mother of three is alive and well. However, the message claiming Herron is alive and well in Miami originated from an internet service provider in Burlington, Canada. Authorities both in New York & Canada are now working together to track this latest lead in the case.

Family & friends are hopeful of this recent news in that new leads may be generated to help find her but are skeptic that the posting is in fact Audrey given feelings towards her not being someone who would leave behind her three children, husband or family of her own free will. Hope is maintained by many of her safe return & that this latest coverage may evolve to more viable leads to keep this case going & bring this young mother home. Something this case has not had in some time.

To view latest local news coverage, articles printed throughout Canada/Locally & the posting purpotedly to be Audrey.

Please offer your feedback & continued prayers.

Audrey's Remembrance Bench...
Audrey was not taken from us by way of a disease such as Cancer nor was she taken by accident...
When a loved one goes missing without details as to why or whom has taken that person there is no healthy grieving process...just uncertainty.
There is hope within every day of Audrey's safe return. As time passes with no word or lead the days grow longer...
It is our hope that Audrey's Remembrance Bench will ease the pain of our everyday loss of her laughter, beauty & presence...
To give her children, family & friends a place to go...
To remind all that we will never give up hope nor will we ever stop searching for her.

On October 4, 2004, Audrey's birthday, a remembrance bench for Audrey, pictured atop this newsletter, was dedicated to her memory, and placed near the spot where she was last seen. The bench was made possible by the generous donations of local area business, family and friends. Stone is forever as is our search for Audrey until she is found. This will serve as a quiet place for friends and family to remember Audrey, and as a testament to the fact that we will continue our search for her, no matter how long it may take. Happy Birthday Audrey, may God keep you safe until your return to us...

LET US HELP SPREAD THE WORD OF YOUR MISSING LOVED ONE!!
In an effort to keep Audrey's story alive we actively search for ways to keep her face & story on the minds of everyone who knew her & those who are just learning of her disappearance. In our search for Audrey many of us have also searched for ways to help others who are suffering this same loss...

Michelle McNicholas, fiancée of Ray Turk Jr. whose sister, Audrey Herron is missing under mysterious circumstance, has a plan to help. At no cost to you, she has offered to create postal envelopes that will include a photo of your loved one along with basic details and contact information on each one. Boxes of 100 will include profiles of several missing individuals ready for mailing through the U.S. Post Office.

Michelle plans to market the envelopes to local businesses, organizations and individuals at a price of $3 per box. All proceeds will go directly to the NYS “Remorial” for missing persons building fund, a project created by Mary & Doug Lyall, parents of Suzanne Lyall who has been missing since March 2, 1998.

The "Remorial" is a setting where families and others affected by the loss of a missing person can visit at any time to reflect and remember. The "Remorial" structure will include glass blocks, each etched with the name of a missing person. It will be illuminated to convey the message of hope of a safe return. When a missing person is located, returned safely, or found deceased, appropriate changes will be made. You can obtain more info on the 'Remorial" Project by visiting:
http://www.hope4themissing.org/remorial.asp

To help Michelle with her plan, purchase these envelopes or to have your loved one included, please contact her directly at whereisaudrey@aol.com to get the process going. Along with your permission, she will need a photo (email is OK), date and location last seen, PD Dept and contact phone #, and website/email address, if any.

AUDREY'S INFO AT AREA PRICE CHOPPERS
Late last summer through the idea of a young mind at work a project to put Audrey's reward info on area shopping carts was put forth. It was the latest idea to keep her face out there like past projects including a billboard, yard signs & also having her appear on the hood of a race car. The idea was proposed by a 14 year old who knew Audrey while standing at the deli of a local Price Chopper & with the help of Brian Crusch & Cart-TV Advertising, his idea came to life. It was anticipated the ads would run in October & November but were delayed & ran in January & February. Audrey's information & photo appeared on 35 carts in each of three Price Chopper locations surrounding the area where she disappeared. The company that helped make this possible has agreed to circulate the ads to carts even longer if the space is not being used.
The project was featured in area papers & on the local news.

It is our hope that someone out there will see her & come forward to help us find her. Our efforts continue to be made possible through the generosity of a community of kind hearts both near & far to help us in our quest to bring Audrey home.

If any of the public saw the advertisements please offer your feedback on Audrey's guestbook.

xx 1,000 days missing-she'll be remembered
« Reply #29 on: May 10th, 2005, 09:35am »

By Ariel Zangla

CATSKILL - May 20 will mark the 1,000th day that Audrey May Herron has been missing, and while her case remains open, police said last week they have no new leads.

To mark the anniversary, friends and family members plan to light 1,000 candles in Herron's memory near a remembrance bench dedicated to the Freehold woman at the Columbia-Greene Long Term Health Care Facility in Jefferson Heights. Herron worked at the facility as a licensed practical nurse before she disappeared after leaving work the evening of Aug. 29, 2002.

Organizers of the May 20 event are soliciting candles and hope to get the 1,000 needed. As of Friday afternoon, 77 had been received.

"The plan is we're hoping to get 1,000, one candle for each day," said Marie Parker, a friend of Herron's who has planned several efforts to keep the missing woman's story alive. Parker said it doesn't matter what type of candles are donated as long as they are free-standing. She said tea-lights would be sufficient.

According to the Web site devoted to finding Herron, the candles will be lit "as a symbol that we have not forgotten each day that passed without her in our lives."

Herron was 31 when she was last seen by her co-workers. She never arrived home that night and neither she nor her 1994 black Jeep Grand Cherokee have been seen since.

In October, a message was e-mailed to the Web site devoted to Herron. The writer claimed to be the missing woman, said she was fine, was in Miami, Fla., and would return soon. The message was traced to Burlington, Ontario, and was written by a person who subscribes to Cogeco Cable Internet Service, police said.

On Thursday, Senior Investigator David Darling with the state police at Catskill said because the e-mail was an international issue, it was taking longer to track down the writer. He said the police have to go through state departments meaning that the process takes longer.

Darling also said no new leads have been received in the case.

"I won't stop until I find her," said Parker, who is hoping for a large turnout at the May 20 event, which is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. Parker said she hopes to get at least one candle from each state and some from outside the United States.

She is hopeful that eventually, something done in Herron's memory will spur a person who knows something about the case to come forward.
